Estimate the full Swedish electricity bill: electricity trading, variable grid charge, energy tax, and fixed monthly fees.
The breakdown separates electricity trading, grid transport, tax, and fixed charges.
Total monthly cost divided by consumption, including fixed fees.
Compare like months
Electric heating makes use seasonal, so compare winter with winter and summer with summer.
Fixed fees affect the real unit price
With low use, fixed fees are spread over fewer kWh and the all-in unit price rises.
Check both bills
Electricity trading and grid service are often billed separately in Sweden.
Is Sweden's 2026 energy tax 45 öre/kWh?
For most households it is 36 öre before VAT, or 45 öre including VAT. Some northern municipalities have a reduced rate, so edit the field when applicable.
Where do I find the electricity price?
Use the VAT-inclusive per-kWh price and variable markup from the retailer bill. Spot price alone often excludes markups and fees.
Can this calculate a demand charge?
Add a known charge from the bill to fixed monthly fees. Forecasting it requires the grid tariff and your measured power peaks, which are outside this estimate.
Consumption is multiplied by the electricity-trading price, variable grid charge, and energy tax. Fixed monthly fees are then added. Enter every price including VAT.
In Sweden you choose the electricity retailer, while the grid operator depends on the address. You normally need both bills to capture the complete cost.
The standard 2026 energy tax is 45 öre/kWh including VAT, with a lower rate in some northern municipalities. Add a known monthly demand charge to fixed fees; this calculator does not forecast power peaks.
A quoted electricity price is only one part of a Swedish household bill. The complete amount normally includes electricity trading, grid transport, energy tax, and fixed charges. Trading and grid service may arrive on separate invoices.
Enter VAT-inclusive prices. Include the retailer's variable markup in the electricity price, take the transmission charge from the grid bill, and add all fixed monthly fees. For most households the 2026 energy tax is 45 öre per kWh including VAT, while some northern municipalities use a reduced rate.
Electric heating makes winter consumption very different from summer use. Run separate winter, summer, and annual-average scenarios instead of treating one convenient month as a full-year forecast.
A known demand charge can be entered with fixed fees. Forecasting a future charge requires your grid tariff and measured power peaks, so the calculator deliberately does not invent that figure.
