Company car benefit 2026 – net pay comparison
Compare cash take-home pay with and without a company car using a known official monthly benefit value and Swedish 2026 tax tables.
Method
A gross salary deduction reduces cash gross pay but not the benefit value. A net payment reduces the benefit value to a minimum of zero and is subtracted from cash after tax. Tax is looked up separately on ordinary salary and on reduced cash salary plus the remaining benefit. Select age at the start of the year, municipality and church membership.
Worked example
With SEK 50,000 salary, SEK 6,000 benefit, SEK 4,000 gross deduction and SEK 2,000 net payment, cash gross pay becomes SEK 46,000 and taxable income SEK 50,000. If table tax is identical in both cases, cash take-home pay falls by SEK 6,000.
Limitations
This is preliminary withholding, not final income tax or total car ownership cost. Fuel benefit, other income, tax adjustments and private motoring costs are excluded. Obtain the correct benefit value from Skatteverket or payroll. A dash means the official tax table is not yet available.
Official sources
When cash salary cannot fund the tax
Actual withholding is capped at cash gross salary and is zero when no cash salary is paid. Remaining table tax is shown separately and may need funding later. The primary cost includes the difference in this uncovered table tax; it is a table-based estimate, not assessed final tax. Cash flow uses only actual withholding. An entered actual net payment is still deducted; any payment beyond remaining salary needs funds outside payroll.
Example: SEK 1,000 cash gross salary and SEK 1,800 table tax mean at most SEK 1,000 withheld, zero salary paid and SEK 800 of table tax not withheld. With no cash salary withholding is zero, but the benefit remains taxable.
