Analysis & guidance
  • How quantities are calculated

Dimensions and product data determine quantities rounded up for purchase. Check cutting plans and actual consumption before ordering.

  • What should you check?

Wallpaper conservatively covers the full perimeter without deducting openings. Drop length is height plus cutting allowance, rounded up to complete repeats; only full drops fit each roll. This models straight matching, not offset matching, sloping ceilings or murals. Leftover paint is not shared between walls and ceiling. Primer, wallpaper paste, flooring underlay, demolition and tools are excluded from material lines. Allow for these separately.

About this calculator

Room renovation budget calculator

How much will it cost to renovate my room?

Bedroom or room renovation material cost is the sum of complete paint cans, wallpaper rolls, floor packs and skirting lengths at your prices. Add your labor and delivery budget; the result is not a quote for a complete renovation.

Wall area is 2 × (length + width) × height minus doors and windows. Floor and ceiling share an area. Choose either wall paint or wallpaper to avoid counting the wall twice. Paint uses area, coats and coverage, then complete cans. Flooring uses whole packs; skirting uses whole lengths after subtracting door width.

Worked example

The prices below are illustrative inputs, not market prices. Replace them with your quotes or store prices.

Length: 4 m; Width: 3 m; Height: 2.5 m; Total door area: 2 m²; Total window area: 3 m² → net wall area: 30 m²; floor and ceiling area: 12 m².

Wall coats: 2; Wall paint coverage: 10 m²/l; Wall paint can size: 2.5 l → 3 wall paint cans. Ceiling coats: 1; Ceiling paint coverage: 10 m²/l; Ceiling can size: 2.5 l → 1 ceiling paint cans.

Floor area per pack: 2 m²; Floor waste: 10% → 7 floor packs. Total door width: 1 m; Skirting waste: 0%; Stock skirting length: 2.4 m → 6 skirting lengths.

Price per wall paint can: 100 SEK; Price per ceiling paint can: 80 SEK; Price per floor pack: 50 SEK; Price per skirting length: 20 SEK → material subtotal: 300 + 80 + 350 + 120 = 850 SEK. Labor budget: 500 SEK; Delivery budget: 100 SEK → total budget: 1 450 SEK.
