Tile quantity and cost calculator
How many tiles and how much adhesive and grout do I need?
Tile quantity depends on tile dimensions, joint width and complete rows and columns. Add your waste allowance and round to whole packs; adhesive and grout use the product’s consumption per m² separately.
Tiles are counted as complete rows and columns across a rectangle, with joints between tiles. Selected waste is added to the count before rounding up to whole packs. Adhesive and grout are separate: area × entered kg/m² ÷ package weight.
Worked example
The prices below are illustrative inputs, not market prices. Replace them with your quotes or store prices.
Length: 2 m; Width: 1 m; Tile length: 0.5 m; Tile width: 0.5 m; Joint width: 0 mm; Waste: 10%.
4 × 2 × 1.10 = 8.8 → 9 tiles needed. Tiles per pack: 6 → 2 tile packs = 12 purchased tiles.
Adhesive consumption: 3 kg/m²; Adhesive bag size: 5 kg → 2 adhesive bags. Grout consumption: 0.5 kg/m²; Grout bag size: 2 kg → 1 grout bags.
Price per tile pack: 100 SEK; Price per adhesive bag: 50 SEK; Price per grout bag: 40 SEK. Material subtotal: 2 × 100 + 2 × 50 + 40 = 340 SEK. Labor budget: 200 SEK; Delivery budget: 30 SEK → total budget: 570 SEK.
What is excluded from the material budget?
The model assumes straight laying without reusing edge offcuts. Diagonal layouts, recesses and multiple surfaces need a cutting plan. Joint width changes tile count, but grout consumption must be updated from product instructions. Adhesive and grout have no extra waste factor: include your allowance in consumption. Waterproofing, primer and tools are excluded. Follow the system supplier’s wet-room instructions.
Enter your own SEK prices per complete package or piece as labelled. Zero means that cost has not been budgeted. Labor and delivery are added separately.
